Across both financial and energy sectors Gary has an over 30 years of experience, from the normative accountancy background to interfaces with energy-related finance and operation particularly in project management and negotiation, within a strong risk management framework. His other notable expertise include all aspects of negotiation in client portfolio, company acquisitions, energy supply agreements.
He began his accountancy career with Ernst & Young as an Auditor. Having worked at one of the largest accounting firms globally, Gary became a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (FCA). His career took a shift into the energy sector, when he joined Eastern Natural Gas, a subsidiary of Eastern Electricity with a turnover of £500m.
He moved on to Corona Energy, a UK gas and electricity supplier with a turnover of more than £600m. There he served as their Finance Director, transforming the company from loss making to solid stable profitability and later as the Private Equity Investment Consultant, overseeing the acquisition and integration of energy assets.
Having gained a firm footing in the energy business, Gary set up a UK based meter asset management company, where he supervised the negotiation of financing and all customer and supplier contracts, including maintenance and insurance. In just two years, he completed the sale of business at a profit.
With this success, Gary initiated a renewables start-up in Italy where he was responsible for the identification of suitable sites and the securing of all permits and approvals to get to “ready to build”.
At leisure, Gary is a curious learner and an avid language enthusiast. Mastering Portuguese is his latest goal.
